May 14 Bargaining Update

The CWA/IBT Association Bargaining Committee met in Dallas on May 11, 12, and 13.

On Monday, May 11th,the team met to to prepare for the week.

On Tuesday, May 12th,we met with the Company, which passed Article 6, Overtime—Customer Service. We continued to work on our counter proposal on Article 5, Hours of Service from the previous sessions, as well as working  on Articles 6 and 7.

On Tuesday we also met with Jill Surdek, Vice President of Customer Planning at American Airlines. She reviewed plans for the rest of the training for PSS cut over. She said the Company wants a smooth transition at cut over in October.  We shared our concerns regarding the need for more staffing in all areas and the need to plan in advance to cover the extra work during the massive training happening now and in the final days leading up to the PSS cut over deadline.

On Wednesday, May 13th, we continued to work on our counter-proposal for Article 5, Hours of Service, a complex article that contains many work rules.

On Thursday, May 14th, we gave the Company our counter-proposal on Article 5.

We will meet again for negotiations June 1-3 in Dallas.
